[...] Surprisingly to me, several bloggers are drawing positives from this game. DrewsLions likes what he sees out of our defensive line subs and DF79 is thrilled for a variety of reasons. [...]

BTW - Cpepp SHOULD be able to make the Stafford type plays, as you called them. This offense will sink or swim based on the ability of the team to complete those long bomb pass plays when the defense creeps up to stop the run and short game. Culpepper couldn't execute, so it essentially stopped GB from having to defend most anything from past 20 yards of the line of scrimmage with anything more than token man coverage CB.

With CJ and Stafford in the game, teams can try that, but it will look like the first half versus Chicago with the Lions marching up and down the field. I'd love to see that!!!

I agree to a point, but a QB needs to read the defense, and Cpepp just was not doing that. He can audible at the line, and he was mindlessly running them into 9 man fronts instead of audible to the play action. He wasn't finding his open reads, and he was not doing the audibile to run when the GB defense would show blitz to take advantage.

I agree, his playcalling could have been a little different, but as soon as you go from not hitting long pass plays to not even making an effort, you bog down the run and short passing game even more. They made some good calls, but the offense was just not reacting well and not executing -- period.

I can't really think of how Linehan could have called the gaem that Dom Capers couldn't have countered when his guys were winning the one-on-one matchups, and the battle of wits with the QB(s).

Stanton's mistakes were mostly inexperience. Culpepper should have known better.

I appreciate the kind words! I'm a glass half full kind of guy, and I watch the Lions for enjoyment, not to give me ulcers. For love of the game, and the hometown team. Go Lions!!

Better days are indeed ahead -- and soon!!

I am not quite sure how I would get through the week without the measure of optimism you bring to Lions fandom.

Honestly some of the blogers and commenters are not just glass half emptyers they are glass half empty, its probably stood too long, the pipes weren't clean, the glass looks dirty, I could get another but it would probably just be the same anyway so i won't bother...

It's not that it did not hurt badly getting mushed by the pack. But I could not go on if I could not find hope!!!

I agree with your comments, the only thing that really dissappointed me was Linehan, I get that his tools were limited, but I think they got too far away from the run to quickly (i know the score was run up early) and that he needs to adjust the play calling to help CPep out. He wants to dink and dunk and have simple short gainer routes, easy reads. He seems incapable of downfield passing so just take it out. Seems he's calling Stafford type plays for CPep... and this coach staff has preached scheme flexibility.

Let me know what you think...
